Juliana Curi is an award-winning film director.

Director, writer, and executive producer of the award-winning documentary feature film UYRA - THE RISING FOREST (2022). International critically acclaimed featured in outlets such as Hollywood Reporter, Variety, and the Golden Globes Hollywood Press Association, the film had its world premiere at the 46th Frameline International Film Festival, receiving the Audience Award for Best Documentary. The film also won the Special Award for Freedom at the 40th Outfest Los Angeles, the Grand Jury Award at the Newfest Film Festival in NYC, and was selected for competition at the 46th São Paulo Film Festival, in addition to 24 other festivals and 7 international awards. 

With this film, she participated in the BRIClab Film+TV 2020 artistic residency in Brooklyn - NY, and received support from the Doc Society Climate Story Fund 2021, a British foundation that supports films with a strong capacity to foster discussion on climate justice, in addition to participating in the Climate Story Lab Amazonia 2021.

Influenced by the Cinema Novo movement and with a background in journalism, she has a body of work focused on powerful impact narratives. She began her career in the creative department of MTV Brazil developing socio-cultural impact campaigns on Grassroots Movements and since then she has been awarded by UN Women, signs the exhibitions Pink Intervention (Spotte Art NY Gallery, Artsy),  The Battle of the Body at Centro Cultural São Paulo (São Paulo Cultural Center) and founded the audiovisual inclusion project EUETU Lab, which aims to strengthen the inclusion of indigenous, black, LGBTQIA+ and peripheral youth in the filmmaking industry.
