The Battle of the Body — Art Installation
The Battle of the Body is an immersive art installation by Juliana Curi, Micaela Cyrino and Maria Eugênia Cordero that dialogues the realities of HIV/AIDS beyond the biological sphere, exposing its social, cultural, and political dimensions.
Presented at the São Paulo Cultural Center in 2016, the work invited audiences to inhabit the installation rather than simply observe it, creating a space of reflection on prejudice, discrimination, and resilience. Developed through the workshop Voices and Weaves, the project incorporated stories and creative expressions of people living with HIV/AIDS, transforming personal narratives into collective art.
With more than 27,000 visitors, the exhibition became a landmark dialogue between art and activism, amplifying voices often silenced and reaffirming that the fight is not only against the virus, but against the stigma that surrounds it.
